Dental Practice Manager

Merrylee Dental Practice, Glasgow

£35,000 – £42,000 per annum, depending on experience

Full-time, permanent | 37–40 hours per week

Merrylee Dental Practice is an established three-surgery NHS and private practice on Glasgow’s Southside. We are looking for an experienced Dental Practice Manager to take genuine ownership of the day-to-day running of the practice and to help shape how it develops.

This is a senior role with real autonomy. You will lead the team, own the systems and work directly alongside the Practice Principal.

Why this role

– An established three-surgery practice with an experienced team.

– A full practice operations manual is already in place — you will be building on structure, not creating it from scratch.

– We are moving to Dentally, and you will help shape how we use it.

– Direct access to the Practice Principal and genuine influence over how the practice is run.

What you will do

– Lead, support and motivate the practice team.

– Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

– Prepare and maintain the staff rota, ensuring appropriate cover and deputising arrangements are in place.

– Manage holidays, absence and workforce planning.

– Support recruitment, induction and staff development.

– Oversee reception, diary management and the patient experience.

– Maintain dental compliance, governance, policies and staff training records.

– Support routine practice administration and liaise with relevant external providers as required.

– Handle patient feedback and complaints appropriately.

– Liaise with clinicians, laboratories, suppliers and external organisations.

– Identify and implement improvements to systems and efficiency.

What we are looking for

Essential

– Previous experience working within a dental practice.

– Proven team leadership or supervisory experience.

– Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

– Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise in a busy environment.

– Someone who takes ownership and follows things through to completion.

Desirable

– Previous Practice Manager or Deputy Practice Manager experience.

– Experience of both NHS and private dentistry.

– Experience of Dentally or similar practice-management software.

– Experience of general practice administration.

– GDC registration as a Dental Nurse.

We would also welcome applications from senior members of a dental team with significant leadership responsibility who are ready to step up into a Practice Manager role.

What we offer

– £35,000 – £42,000 per annum, depending on experience.

– Permanent, full-time employment with an established practice.

– 30 days’ annual leave including public holidays, rising by one day per year of service to a maximum of 33.

– Workplace pension scheme.

– Free dental treatment for you, and discounted treatment for your immediate family.

– Support and funding for relevant continuing professional development.

– A senior role with genuine responsibility, autonomy and influence.
